Memorial Sloan-Kettering junior faculty members include physicians and scientists holding the Memorial Hospital ranks of Instructor or Assistant Attending and/or the Memorial Sloan-Kettering rank of Assistant Member.
The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) is dedicated to recruiting and fostering the advancement of outstanding junior faculty. The office aims to help each junior faculty member develop a niche at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and make mindful career choices.
The OFD collaborates with the institutional Junior Faculty Council (JFC), which advocates for issues of particular importance to junior faculty members.
Composed of junior faculty from various departments and programs, the JFC focuses on specific objectives including:
- Promoting the academic development, work-life balance, and wellness of junior faculty
- Enhancing communication among junior faculty and between junior faculty and administration
- Representing junior faculty at the highest levels of the institution
In collaboration with the JFC, the OFD aims to increase transparency of promotion criteria; assist in developing a network of peers and mentors to augment junior faculty development; and foster collaborations between clinicians and scientists to enhance translational research.
