Full Title
An Interactive e-Health Program to Promote Health Behaviors Among Cancer Survivors
Purpose

Cancer survivors often suffer from other conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes, and may report fatigue and pain related to the side effects of their treatment. Adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors may give them a sense of control and improve their quality of life.

The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of a program to promote healthy diet and exercise behaviors among cancer survivors. Participants will first be surveyed about their diet and exercise habits, thoughts about diet and exercise, and their medical conditions. They will then be randomly assigned to one of two groups:

  • Group 1 will receive a DVD with information to promote healthy diet and exercise habits, which they can watch at home. They will receive a reminder about the DVD and then be surveyed again 12 weeks after receiving it to see how it affected their physical activity and eating habits.
  • Group 2 will not receive the DVD and will be assessed 12 weeks later about their diet and exercise habits. They will be placed on a waiting list to receive the DVD after the 12-week period.

Researchers will compare the two groups to assess the effectiveness of the DVD intervention.
