Each year, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center diagnoses and treats more than 3,500 people with cancer of the head and neck. Our multidisciplinary head and neck cancer team includes more than 45 medical professionals who focus exclusively on the treatment of head and neck cancer. The team meets weekly to develop a comprehensive care plan for each individual patient, taking into account all facets of care and the entire range of treatment options.
Treating head and neck cancer can be a complex undertaking. Improving survival is the main goal of treatment, but other considerations — such as maintaining patient quality of life and appearance and preserving functions such as speech, swallowing, taste, and hearing — are equally important to our treatment team.
