I joined the faculty at Memorial Sloan-Kettering as a hematologist in 1991, and just over a decade later took on the responsibility of Chief of the Hematology Laboratory Service. In this role, as well as in my capacity as Director of the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center and Associate Director of the Rockefeller Outpatient Pavilion, I am in charge of the laboratory tests done on our patients with blood-related (hematologic) diseases.
Over the years I have been involved in more than 20 clinical research trials to further refine and hone our approach to treating hematologic diseases such as leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Based on these data, I have, in collaboration with my colleagues, published more than 170 journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts.
