Maya Gambarin-Gelwan

I am an Associate Attending Physician on the Gastroenterology and Nutrition Service at Memorial Hospital and a member of the Hepatopancreatobiliary Disease Management Team.  I am a board-certified gastroenterologist and hepatologist and completed a Certificate of Added Qualification in transplant hepatology. I graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by specialty training in gastroenterology and nutrition at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After completion of my GI fellowship, I was an Advanced Hepatology Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where I served as the Chief Hepatology Fellow.

Clinical Expertise

Chronic liver diseases, including treatment of viral hepatitis B and C, immune-mediated and metabolic liver diseases. Management of liver disease in patients with an underlying malignancy and liver-related complications of cancer therapies. Screening colonoscopy; upper gastrointestinal endoscopy; liver biopsy.
