I have been a nurse practitioner at Memorial Sloan-Kettering since 1998, and most recently as a clinical research nurse practitioner with the Lymphoma Service. I work with patients enrolled in lymphoma studies with medical oncologists John Gerecitano and Steven Horwitz.
Most of the trials are for people with relapsed non-Hodgkin and T cell lymphoma. I perform physical exams, review any adverse events or toxicities, interpret lab data, and order tests, procedures, medications, and chemotherapy as required for the protocol. I become very close with all the patients, as the studies often require frequent office visits and telephone calls for follow-up.
In my 13 years on Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s Hematology Service, I worked on the inpatient unit, providing care to people with multiple myeloma, amyloids, and autologous stem cell transplant.
