At Memorial Sloan-Kettering, we offer support groups on a regular basis to people with cancer and their loved ones. Our support groups provide a supportive, in-person forum for connecting with others undergoing similar experiences.
Meetings occur in various locations throughout Memorial Sloan-Kettering, including each inpatient floor. The support groups are run by licensed social workers and nurses with expertise and training in helping patients and families cope with adjusting to cancer emotionally and physically.
Our disease-specific support groups touch on such topics as strategies for dealing with fatigue, isolation, and concerns about the future. Participants are encouraged to share experiences or simply gather information.
Disease-specific support groups are also available for cancer survivors through our Survivorship Center.
For Memorial Sloan-Kettering patients and families who prefer to participate through online forums, our Virtual Groups Program provides multiple opportunities for connecting.
