Our tobacco cessation team includes clinical health psychologists, nurses, and tobacco treatment specialists with decades of experience in helping people stop using tobacco products — regardless of whether they have cancer.

As director of our Tobacco Cessation Program, I work with a team of experts dedicated to promoting tobacco cessation among cancer patients, their families, and individuals at risk for cancer and other chronic medical conditions.

As a clinical health psychologist, I provide care to patients through our Tobacco Cessation Program, where I help smokers to quit and avoid relapse back to smoking.

One of my roles at Memorial Sloan Kettering is as a clinician for our Tobacco Cessation Program. Among other things, I help people to quit smoking and using other tobacco products by offering supportive outpatient counseling.

I work with patients and their families to develop individualized quit strategies that incorporate both motivational counseling and FDA-approved tobacco cessation medications.

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I specialize in treating nicotine dependence in the cancer care setting, and work with our patients to develop individualized quit strategies that incorporate both motivational counseling and FDA-approved tobacco cessation medications.

Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist

I work with employees and dependents in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Employee Health and Wellness program. I assist employees and their dependents by establishing a personalized quitting plan that includes behavioral modifications, motivational counseling, as well as FDA-approved tobacco cessation medications.

Clinic Coordinator

Dionne Birbeck, MPH

I am responsible for the coordination of patient schedules, database maintenance, patient smoking status, and report management on monthly referrals. I work closely with our psychologists and nurses to ensure that our clinic operates smoothly.
