I am a cardiologist who specializes in echocardiography — a non-invasive test that allows a physician to see the heart beating, and to see the heart valves and other structures of the heart. I am the medical director of Memorial Sloan-Kettering's Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit (CICU) where I care for cancer patients who have cardiac disease. The focus of the CICU is to provide comprehensive care to cancer patients who are admitted to the hospital with primary cardiac diagnoses such as acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, and arrhythmia exacerbated by cancer therapy. I am a founding member of the International Cardio-Oncology Society and participate in annual meetings. I also teach residents and fellows about the interface of cardiac disease and cancer care.
