As an internist with a particular interest in information technology (IT), I came to Memorial Sloan-Kettering in 2003 to serve as the Medical Director of Information Systems. In this role, I work closely with clinicians and managers to identify and find solutions for hospital-wide IT issues. I help guide the work of several hundred IT specialists who are dedicated to making our research and patient care as efficient and safe as possible.
I am proud to say I led the team that developed and launched our hospital’s patient portal: MYMSKCC . This private, personalized online link enables patients to log on from their computers to review upcoming appointments, check lab results, view bills, and send and receive secure messages to and from their cancer care team. It’s an evolving tool for patients, and new features and enhancements are being added all the time.
