I am a board-certified medical oncologist. Since 1999, I have combined mainstream cancer treatment with integrative approaches.

Patients want to maximize the effectiveness of their cancer treatments. I have the privilege of helping patients create safe, scientifically sound programs that support this goal. I also work with patients to diminish disease-related symptoms, address treatment side effects, restore or maintain physical stamina, optimize nutrition, and enhance emotional resilience.

In addition to my clinical duties, I participate in the research activities of the Integrative Medicine Service. We are currently designing a study to examine the effects of exercise on breast cancer survivors. One aspect of the study involves determining which kinds of exercise are best for increasing survival after a cancer diagnosis. Another aspect involves uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying the benefits enjoyed by cancer patients who exercise.
