My colleagues and I at the Rockville Centre site offer a multidisciplinary approach using the most recent advances in radiation and medical oncology, including state-of-the-art chemotherapy, targeted, and monoclonal antibody therapy. We have access to all the resources and expertise of the main campus.
Among the advanced care options for lung and head and neck cancer we offer here is an innovative combined modality treatment that includes chemotherapy plus radiation. I work collaboratively with my colleagues in radiation oncology to provide this definitive treatment, which may enable patients to avoid radical, appearance-altering surgery.
Like our colleagues at Sloan-Kettering’s main campus we are tailoring cancer therapy for each lung cancer patient by using special analyses that test tumor tissue for specific genetic mutations. The results of these molecular tests help us determine which targeted therapies are likely to be most effective for each patient.
As part of our research efforts, we are actively enrolling patients in a limited but growing number of clinical trials. In addition, we offer a warm, intimate environment in which doctors and nurses interact with support staff and local physicians to take care of the medical, social, nutritional, and psychological needs of our patients.
