I am a surgeon with extensive experience in hepatobiliary disease, particularly in patients with liver, bile duct, gallbladder, or pancreatic cancers. I also have a special expertise in biliary tract reconstruction.
There are some 20 surgeons, gastroenterologists, radiologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists working in the Hepatobiliary Disease Management Program. We all work closely as a team and meet frequently to determine the most appropriate treatment for each patient, review research, and organize the team to achieve the best possible care for patients.

Over the years, my clinical and research work has contributed to the understanding and management of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and especially of the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas. My research has included studies on the surgical management of tumors of the gall bladder, bile ducts, and liver as well as the control of blood loss during major operations and the assessment of risk factors in patients undergoing major liver and biliary operations.
I have lectured extensively both in the United States and internationally and have published the leading international text on hepatobiliary surgery, which is now in its fourth edition.
