I am an Associate Attending Physician on the Gastroenterology and Nutrition Service at Memorial Hospital and a member of the Hepatopancreatobiliary Disease Management Team. I am a board-certified gastroenterologist and hepatologist and completed a Certificate of Added Qualification in transplant hepatology. I graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by specialty training in gastroenterology and nutrition at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. After completion of my GI fellowship, I was an Advanced Hepatology Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where I served as the Chief Hepatology Fellow.

My areas of interest include a wide spectrum of liver disease, including treatment of viral hepatitis B and C, immune-mediated liver diseases, and metabolic liver diseases. I have a strong interest in management of chronic and advanced liver disease in patients with an underlying malignancy and in liver-related complications of cancer therapies. Alongside my primary interest in hepatology, I am a strong believer in cancer prevention and early detection, and screening colonoscopy is an integral part of my practice.
Prior to joining the Gastroenterology and Nutrition Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, I was on the faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College where I was involved as both principal and co-investigator in multiple clinical trials investigating novel agents for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C and B. My other academic interests include the detection and diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma, nonalcoholic fatty liver, vaccination patterns in patients with chronic liver disease, predictors of response to IFN-based therapy in chronic hepatitis C patients and outcomes of antiviral therapy for chronic hepatitis C in cancer survivors, effects of prior resolved or occult hepatitis B infection on the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma, and disease progression in patients with chronic hepatitis C.
I perform standard upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and percutaneous liver biopsy in Memorial Sloan-Kettering's GI endoscopy unit and see outpatients needing advice on the management of liver diseases in the outpatient facility at the main campus.
