Melissa P. Murray, DO

I am a clinical pathologist with special expertise in breast cancer, and I work closely with other members of the Breast Disease Management Team, providing them with evaluations and diagnoses of surgical samples.

My research is focused on understanding key clinical issues in breast pathology, and I have a particular focus on lobular lesions — tumors that develop in the part of the breast that produces milk — and improving the accuracy of findings from needle biopsies and surgical specimens.

I am an invited lecturer and teacher on breast cancer pathology, and a reviewer for several journals including the Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Research International, and am a member of the US and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Society of Breast Disease, and the New York Metropolitan Breast Cancer Group.
