I am an intensive care specialist with board certifications in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine. My clinical practice focuses on the comprehensive care and treatment of critically ill patients who require life-supporting interventions.

Having a loved one in the intensive care unit (ICU) is a potentially overwhelming experience, and I work with Memorial Sloan Kettering social workers and ICU nurses to ensure direct communication between family members and our staff. One of my goals is to provide patients’ families with a simplified and easily understandable view of the patient’s condition so that they are able to better navigate the complexity of the ICU.

My particular scientific interests include sepsis/septic shock and lung injury, specifically the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with a focus on mechanisms of alveolar (lung) fluid absorption.

I am actively involved in various research projects within our department, and help select and enroll patients in clinical trials. I am also involved in training fellows, residents, and students. I hold memberships in the Society of Critical Care Medicine, American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Thoracic Society. I am a past-president of the New York State Thoracic Society, the local chapter of the American Thoracic Society.
