Sheron Latcha, MD

I am a board-certified renal (kidney) specialist who provides consultations and follow-up care for Memorial Sloan-Kettering outpatients and inpatients, as well as for patients in our critical care unit. Our team provides the full spectrum of renal replacement therapy for hospitalized patients.

My areas of interest include fluid and electrolyte disturbances, hypertension, the renal toxicity of chemotherapeutic agents, and the management of critically ill patients who are experiencing renal failure. I have lectured across the United States about sodium balance disorders, and have authored publications on such topics as the use of chemotherapy during hemodialysis (a renal replacement therapy) and the development of fluid and electrolyte disturbances in cancer patients.

Currently, I am a principal investigator in a clinical trial examining the use of an extracorporeal (outside the body) therapy in patients with sepsis — bacteria (or their toxins) in the blood or tissues.
