Susan K. Seo, MD

Director, Antibiotic Management Program

I am a board-certified physician in internal medicine and infectious disease, and specialize in treating infections in patients who have weakened immune systems due to cancer, cancer therapy, or infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the virus that causes AIDS.

As Director of the Antibiotic Management Program, I work with pharmacists to ensure that antibiotics and other antimicrobial medications are both prescribed and taken properly. By closely monitoring the medications administered to our patients in treatment, we can reduce the risk that disease microbes will become resistant to the medicines that are supposed to destroy them.

While supervising antibiotic therapy, I also serve patients as an Associate Attending Physician on the Infectious Disease Service, and mentor our future infectious disease specialists as Director of the Infectious Disease Fellowship Program. I followed my residencies at Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School with a fellowship in infectious disease at Memorial Sloan Kettering—a decision that led to the foundation for my life’s work.
