1. Does the Web training cover the same material that was offered in training courses from previous years?
This course has been regularly updated and offered by the Integrative Medicine Service of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for almost a decade. This is the first time the material is available as a Web course. The Web course contains updated material and new lectures.
2. How was the course developed? Who teaches it?
The course is a product of faculty and staff of the Integrative Medicine Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
3. How long does it take to complete the course?
The entire course lasts 9 hours. It contains 8 lectures; individual lectures vary from 30 to 45 minutes each. You have 30 days from the date of your registration to complete the course and take the exam.
4. Is there a test at the end of the course? If so, how is it graded? If you don’t pass it the first time, how many times can you take it?
There is an exam, which must be completed in one sitting. Passing requires a score of at least 70% correct. You have a maximum of three tries to pass the exam. Once you pass, you will be able to print the certificate of achievement.
5. Are credits recognized by individual state licensing boards?
Credits for this course are recognized by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. NCCAOM credits are recognized in all but nine states (CA, WY, ND, SD, KS, OK, LA, AL, and MD). Of these nine these states, some have their own exam; others have no regulation.
6. How do I earn the 8 PDA points for my NCCAOM license? Do I get a certificate?
After you watch all 21 lectures in their entirety, pass the exam, and fill out the course evaluation form, you will be able to print your certificate of achievement. You can submit your continuing education credit for licensure renewal through the NCCAOM Web site.
7. Why do I only see the introduction page when I enter the course for the first time?
The course is designed so that each lecture becomes available only after the previous lecture is viewed. After you complete a lecture, you can return to view it again if you wish.
8. How long will I have access to course material?
Your log-in will be active for 30 days from the day you purchase the course. After 30 days, your log-in will become inactive, and you will no longer have access to the course.
9. Will I be able to print course materials?
Yes. You can download the PowerPoint presentations for each lecture.
10. Can I share course information with other professionals and/or colleagues?
No. Only people registered for the course have access to course materials.
11. How long will the course be posted on Memorial Sloan-Kettering Web site?
The course will be permanently posted to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Web site and there is no cut off date as to when you can sign up for the course.
