Susan Derby has been a nurse practitioner on the Pain and Palliative Care Service since 1993. She has worked on the inpatient consultation service and in ambulatory care, providing care for a caseload of highly symptomatic patients. Ms. Derby collaborates with hospices and home care agencies in providing symptom management and end-of- life care. As a geriatric nurse practitioner, she has started a geriatric palliative clinic as part of the Pain and Palliative Care Service. Ms. Derby is the past president of the local NYC Oncology Nursing Society Chapter and has published on end-of-life care and on care of the geriatric palliative care patient.
