Recombinant Human TSH Stimulation Test

This information explains the recombinant human TSH stimulation test.

Testing Schedule

  • Your blood will be drawn on the first day. This is done to measure the amount of thyroglobulin (thyroid cancer tumor marker) in the blood.
  • You will then get an injection of recombinant human TSH (thyrotropin alfa, Thyrogen®) 2 days in a row.
  • Three days after the second injection, you will have another blood draw. The results from this test are used to plan how often and what type of follow-up testing you will need.
