Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Basking Ridge offers the following services for adults with cancer.
Cancer prevention and early detection are top priorities at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. We offer breast cancer screening services including digital mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, as well as skin cancer screening exams.
Getting a precise diagnosis is the critical first step toward getting the right cancer treatment. At Basking Ridge we use the most-sophisticated imaging technologies — including ultrasound, MRI, CT, PET scans, and PET/CT — to determine the diagnosis and stage of your cancer. We also perform stereotactic, ultrasound-guided, and MRI-guided biopsies.
Our pathologists subspecialize in specific types of cancer and are experts in identifying important characteristics of tumors that can indicate which treatments will be most effective. In many cases we use advanced tests that also consider the genetic traits of the tumor. This information enables us to provide personalized treatment.
People with cancer can see surgeons at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Basking Ridge who specialize in breast, urologic, head and neck, lung, and gynecologic cancers, as well as general oncology. Although most operations take place at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, you can receive follow-up care at Basking Ridge after your operation, limiting the inconvenience of multiple trips into Manhattan.
Chemotherapy and Medical Oncology
Our Basking Ridge facility is home to medical oncologists who specialize in particular types of cancer. We are experts in using diagnostic information to plan and manage treatment in ways that are targeted to the specific details of your clinical condition.
If you need chemotherapy, hormonal therapies, or biologic therapies you can receive your treatments at Basking Ridge. Our focus is on making the experience as comfortable as possible.
We have one private (isolation) and 22 semiprivate “pods,” each with a flat-screen TV and temperature control, as well as views of the woods surrounding the facility. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to help pass the time during treatment. Snacks are available for patients receiving chemotherapy.
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Basking Ridge uses advanced technologies to deliver radiation treatment with extraordinary precision. Our radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiation therapists, and nurses work together to ensure that your treatment is meticulously planned, carefully and safely delivered, and effective.
We use intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) to target the tumor while sparing the surrounding healthy tissue. On-board imaging (OBI) is used immediately before and during each treatment to ensure that the radiation is delivered precisely.
Skin Cancer Treatment
At Basking Ridge, we offer state-of-the-art dermatologic care, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of skin cancers, including melanoma. Using Mohs micrographic surgery, our experienced team removes cancers from the skin while preserving surrounding tissue and minimizing scarring. We also use photodynamic and laser therapies. If you are at high risk for skin cancer, we use whole-body photography, dermoscopy, confocal microscopy, and computerized digital imaging systems to monitor for new cancers.
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Basking Ridge offers consultation and treatment for patients with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, and other blood cancers. We offer clinical trials and access to Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s world-class bone marrow or stem cell transplantation program.
One of the few neuro-oncologists in New Jersey is on staff at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Basking Ridge to care for patients with brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, and central nervous system lymphoma. He is also an expert in evaluating patients with neurological effects arising from cancer treatments.
Support during and after Treatment
In addition to excellent clinical cancer care, we provide a variety of services to help you cope with the challenges of treatment and living with cancer. These offerings include counseling with a social worker, support groups (both in person and online), patient education, and nutrition counseling. There is also an anesthesiologist specializing in pain management available on-site.
Because doctors at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center are at the forefront of cancer research, we are able to offer eligible patients certain innovative therapies that are not yet widely available.
