Survivorship Center: Financial Assistance

The costs of fertility preservation and family building after cancer treatment can be significant. Unfortunately, these expenses are not always covered by health insurance. Below are listed a number of assistance programs and grants that may help with the costs. Be aware that many of these are open to applicants only once a year. It may take as long as six months to find out whether you will receive assistance.

Additional Resources to Help Pay for Fertility Services

  • The New York State Infertility Demonstration Project provides grants to subsidize costs based on your income. Ask your reproductive endocrinologist whether he or she participates in this and whether you are eligible.
  • A number of pharmaceutical companies have programs providing medications for a reduced fee or for free. Ask your reproductive endocrinologist if you are eligible and to help you apply for this.
  • Some banks and financing companies will offer loans to pay for fertility services.
  • Some fertility providers will work out a payment plan for you.
  • Some patients have been able to pay for the services by having family or friends organize fund raising efforts in your community, house of worship, or place of employment.
