Full Title
Development of Group Interventions for Breast Cancer Survivors Study
Phase
II
Purpose

The purpose of this study is to gather information that will be used to develop a group therapy program for breast cancer survivors and to see if this type of therapy can be provided online using a virtual group. In this study, researchers will ask breast cancer survivors to participate in a virtual focus group to gather their input on a preliminary draft of a workbook for this virtual group therapy program.

The goal of this study is to develop and refine a program that will help breast cancer survivors who feel “stuck”and distressed after their diagnosis and treatment, ultimately allowing us to provide a better support system for survivors. A second phase of this study, which will begin once these focus groups are complete, will offer and test both a support group and the program we develop from the input received during this first phase.

Eligibility

This study is open to women (age 18 and older) who completed primary treatment for early-stage breast cancer at least 3 months but no more than 5 years before entering the study.

If you are interested in participating in a focus group or want to learn more about the study’s second phase, please contact Malwina Tuman or Corinne Sweeney at 646-888-0134 (or via e-mail at tumanm@mskcc.org), or Dr. Wendy Lichtenthal at 646-888-4812.
