Although there is no cure for radiation fibrosis syndrome, several treatments can help patients function and feel better, says cancer rehabilitation specialist Michael Stubblefield, of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Physical therapy can help stretch muscles and improve muscle strength. Medications such as nerve-stabilizing drugs, analgesics, and Botox injections can relieve pain and reduce muscle spasms. Orthotic devices can ease problems associated with movement, including a clenched jaw or weak neck muscles.
