Ascertainment of Saliva or Blood Samples For Genetic Epidemiology Studies of Cancer and Aging
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to learn more about the roles of genes in cancers. Genes are short pieces of DNA which determine the inherited characteristics that distinguish one individual from another. This study will look at how some genes might raise or lower the chance that some people may develop cancer.
Researchers will collect samples of saliva from study participants, which will include nursing home residents as well as community volunteers. DNA from these saliva samples will be analyzed.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this study, participants must meet several criteria, including but not limited to the following:
- Participants must be age 60 or older, have no personal history of cancer (except for non-melanoma skin cancer), be of Jewish religion, and have grandparents of Eastern European ancestry.
