Hepatoblastoma is a type of cancer that occurs in the liver. It usually occurs in children less than 3 years of age. If left untreated, hepatoblastoma can spread (metastasize) from the liver to other organs in the body, such as the lymph nodes and lungs.
The purpose of this Children’s Oncology Group study is to learn more about the factors that lead to a good or a poor chance of recovery (prognosis) for children with hepatoblastoma. Researchers want to use this information to develop treatments that will increase the overall success rate (eliminate the cancer and not have it return) and decrease the side effects of treatment.
