Continuing Medical Education: 2014 SPARC Abstract Submission

The SPARC 2014 Program Committee is pleased to invite the submission of abstracts for poster presentations. We warmly welcome the submission of original scientific material as well as work previously presented at other scientific meetings. All abstracts will receive consideration by the scientific review committee for selection.

Up to 10 abstracts will be selected for poster presentation. Up to six of the abstracts will be selected for oral presentation and will be eligible to receive monetary prizes, ranging from $250 to $1000 for the winning submission, along with the opportunity for the investigators to present their work during the SPARC conference. 

The Program Committee will use the following criteria when making the selections;

  • Significance- Importance of the research questions
  • Innovation/Originality
  • Methodology used- Appropriateness of the approach
  • Soundness of conclusions
  • Potential for impact

It is our goal to display the work of conference attendees at all levels of the academic pipeline including students, fellows, residents, post-doctoral trainees, and junior faculty. This is an excellent opportunity to share your research with a diverse and engaged audience of trainees and junior and senior investigators.

Abstracts focused on all disciplines of Clinical, Translational, Public Health and Basic Science Research, Education (pipeline programs etc.), interdisciplinary topics, and others are welcome.

Instructions for Abstract Submission SPARC2014

Deadline for Abstract Submission

Abstracts must be received on or before Monday, April 28, 2014, 5:00 PM (EST). Abstract dispositions will be e-mailed to the contact listed on the submission by May 5, 2014.

Abstract Format  

Please include the following information on your submission:

  • Title of your paper
  • Full name, affiliation (all authors), address, contact phone number and email address
  • Name and date of scientific meeting where abstract has been previously presented
  • Your contribution to the project, in 50 words or less
  • Abstract

Abstract Submission

Abstracts should be submitted online. Please copy and paste your abstract (up to 500 words) into the space provided in the online submission.

  • All abstracts must have the following headings: Title,  Background,  Methods,  Results,  Conclusions, and Implications of findings

Poster Format

Posters for accepted abstracts should be no larger than five feet wide and six feet tall.

Attendance Requirement

All abstracts must have at least one author who will be in attendance on the day of the conference.
