One of the greatest risk factors for developing cancer is aging. Approximately 60% of cancers in the US occur in people age 65 and older. As the US population ages and lives longer, the incidence of new cancer cases in older adults is expected to rise. Nurses need to be cognizant of the significant issues and implications related to the care of the growing population of older adults with cancer.
The goal of this program is to provide baseline clinical knowledge of the geriatric patient and their unique response to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
