The Mammadi Soudavar Memorial Fellowship was established in The New York Community Trust in 1981 by Fereidoon and Shamsi Soudavar as a memorial to their son, Mammadi. The fellowship was designed as an opportunity for qualified physicians from across the world to study in cancer centers and bring their knowledge back to their country. In 1985, the Alireza Soudavar Memorial Fellowship Fund was established by the Soudavar family to honor their other son, and to promote cancer education and research.
The programs support qualified applicants from across the world to participate in a period of observation and education. The scholars are supported with travel costs and a monthly living stipend of $3,000. The duration of this funded observership is two to three months (maximum) based on the needs and goals of the applicant. Successful applicants will be physicians who have completed residency training and who are committed to furthering the understanding of cancer care. The applicant must be between the ages of 28 and 40.
