Surgery Research Fellowship

The purpose of the Department of Surgery’s research training program is to foster academic research in surgical oncology. This goal is accomplished by having carefully selected mentees work in a stimulating environment with a committed faculty that has broad expertise in cancer research. The mentees are young surgical trainees (who are either doing or have completed residency), most of whom are interested in careers in surgical oncology. The program provides the fundamentals of research through weekly research conferences, opportunities for collaboration with medical and surgical faculty, and training in grant writing to enable graduates the opportunity to participate in or lead translational or laboratory-based research during their careers.
