Dr. John Lopinto, Veterinary Medical Officer, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) presents the USDA’s regulatory perspective on institutional and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) functions, roles and responsibilities. Dr. Lopinto will explore the federal regulations that govern research with animal subjects, providing an in-depth discussion on the USDA’s focus on compliance and education. This seminar is targeted toward helping the research community understand the legal ramifications of doing research with USDA covered species and provides a third party overview of the IACUC’s roles and responsibilities as well as the impact and implications of protocol noncompliance.
