The Phases of Grant Writing: Preparing Successful Grants Applications

Please join the Tri-Institutional Collaboration Network (TCN) as it hosts Dr. Steven Kaminsky of the International Rett Syndrome Foundation for a presentation on successful grant writing, from idea vetting and preparation, time management and writing to presentation overview and a discussion of the reviewer’s perspective.  Dr. Kaminsky has a rich history of providing grant writing guidance, including presenting for the NIH’s Bio-Trac Workshops. This presentation will be geared toward non-federal sponsors, however the concepts presented can be applied universally to both non-federal and federal programs.

About Dr. Steven Kaminsky

Dr. Kaminsky joined the International Rett Syndrome Foundation in January of 2012.  While at IRSF Dr. Kaminsky is leading an effort to build translational research platforms to move basic discovery into the clinic using research partners to transition the challenges of preclinical and clinic trials.  He came to the Foundation after serving 11 years as the Vice President of Research for the Uniformed Services of the Health Sciences.  Originally from Binghamton, NY he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Hobart College, he received a Master’s of Science Degree in biology from Northern Michigan University and his Doctor of Philosophy in Pathology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Kaminsky was also a Program Officer at the National Institutes of Health where he directed the Developmental Genetics Program at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
