Summer 2008 at Gerstner Sloan-Kettering
Twenty undergraduates chosen from a nationwide pool experienced intensive laboratory research, and 11 young scientists joined our research community in pursuit of their PhDs.

Gerstner Sloan-Kettering Faculty Awarded Top Honors
Gerstner Sloan-Kettering faculty members' work has been recognized and supported by The Hope Funds for Cancer Research, the Searle Scholars Program, and the Rita Allen Foundation.
Marcel R. M. van den Brink Named Head of the Division of Hematologic Oncology in the Department of Medicine
Dr. van den Brink is a physician-scientist who is an expert in allogeneic (donor-provided) blood stem cell transplantation for adult cancer patients. He also heads a laboratory in Sloan-Kettering Institute's Immunology Program, which focuses on the immunology of bone marrow transplantation and the role of T cells in graft-versus-host disease.
Jason Lewis Joins Memorial Sloan-Kettering as Chief of the Radiochemistry Service
Jason Lewis has joined the Center as Chief of the Radiochemistry Service in the Department of Radiology and an Associate Member in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He also holds a joint appointment in Sloan-Kettering Institute's Molecular Pharmacology and Chemistry Program and is the Director of the Cyclotron-Radiochemisty Core facility.
Simon Powell Named Chair of Radiation Oncology
Simon N. Powell has joined Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center as Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, succeeding Beryl McCormick, who has served as Acting Chair since 2005. He is also a Member in Sloan-Kettering Institute's Molecular Biology Program and the incumbent of the Enid A. Haupt Chair in Radiation Oncology.
