Center News Magazine: Marc Ladanyi Named to Endowed Chair

Marc Ladanyi has been named the incumbent of the newly endowed William Ruane Chair in Molecular Oncology. The chair was made possible by a gift from the late William J. Ruane, a longtime supporter of Memorial Sloan-Kettering.

Dr. Ladanyi is Attending Pathologist in Molecular Diagnostics Service of the Department of Pathology and Member in the Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program. He is a molecular pathologist whose laboratory works on the genomics and molecular pathogenesis of sarcomas and thoracic malignancies. He also co-directs The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) group at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, part of the National Cancer Institute’s TCGA project network. He has authored or co-authored more than 195 primary research papers and more than 40 reviews and commentaries.

A noted investigator, Dr. Ladanyi has received Young Investigator Awards from the US and Canadian Academy of Pathology and from Memorial Sloan-Kettering. In 2007 he was awarded the Nina Axelrod Lectureship by the Connective Tissue Oncology Society, and in 2009 received the Caine Halter Hope Now Award from Uniting Against Lung Cancer.
