Doracy P. Fontenla is a board-certified medical physicist and educator whose focus has been the training of residents and fellows in radiation therapy and medical physics. She has returned to Memorial Sloan-Kettering after a 15-year affiliation with Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. At Memorial Sloan-Kettering she will help develop an accredited medical physics residency program as well as direct and supervise the medical physics training program in radiation therapy. Dr. Fontenla received her PhD in nuclear physics in 1964 from the National University of Cuyo, in Argentina. She first came to Memorial Sloan-Kettering in 1982 as a fellow and joined the faculty in 1984, eventually becoming supervisor of external beam treatment design.
