Making an Appointment

At Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, patients are cared for by a group of specialists who work together as part of a disease management team. The roster includes surgeons, medical oncologists (who treat cancer using chemo, hormonal, and biological therapy), radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists (who identify diseases by studying cells and tissues under a microscope), nurses, and social workers.

Each patient is seen by as many different specialists as are needed for his or her disease. However, patients also have a primary doctor to coordinate the care.

Our doctors are also very active in research, so patients in our care have access to the newest approaches and can often participate in clinical trials. Team members work together on every aspect of diagnosis and treatment, meeting regularly to review and refine each patient's treatment plan.
