Fred's Team Boston

The 112th Boston Marathon is scheduled for April 21, 2008.

Applying to the Marathon

Registration for Fred's Team is a two-part process -- you must sign-up for Fred's Team and the race separately. To qualify for the 112th Boston Marathon, athletes must meet the designated time standards listed on www.BostonMarathon.org.

Registration for the Boston Marathon is currently open for runners who have qualified based on a designated time standard corresponding to his or her age group. Race entry is paid by the runner. Entries from athletes meeting the qualifying times will be accepted until the maximum field is reached.

Fundraising

After registering, you will be assigned your own personal Web page on the Fred's Team system. This page can be used for online fundraising. You can personalize this page with your own words and photos. Please visit our fundraising section for more information.

Fundraising Commitment: $5,000

  • Half of your fundraising commitment -- $2,500 -- is due by March 20, 2008.
  • Your full fundraising commitment is due on Monday, April 7, 2008.

Fundraising Deadline Policy

Funds for the Boston Marathon are due on April 7, 2008. This deadline is in place to ensure that every runner fulfills his or her fundraising commitment. If funds are not received by the deadline, we reserve the right to cancel your entry with the respective marathon.

Train for the Marathon

Fred's team members will receive a training schedule and have access to our team coach for running, nutrition, and tapering advice. For more information, please visit our Training section.

Amenities for Fred's Team Boston

Fred's Team members who meet the required fundraising deadline will receive a two-night hotel stay at the Langham Hotel during marathon weekend.*

Fred's Team member perks/activities include:

  • Fred's Team uniform (upon reaching the halfway point of fundraising)
  • An invitation to the Fred's Team pre-race pasta party
  • Transportation to the start of the race
  • Team photo
  • Pre-race breakfast/uniform decorating

    *Fred's Team runners are responsible for their own travel to and from Boston.

    About the Race

    Boston is a wonderful town full of sports fans, and the Boston Marathon is a favorite event of these enthusiasts. Expect large crowds cheering you on as you journey from the starting line in rural Hopkinton to the finish line in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood.
