Fred's Team

Join the Cause

Fred's Team welcomes enthusiastic, energetic volunteers to lend a hand in the race against cancer. Join us for the ING New York City Marathon on November 7, 2010 and participate in this exciting event from a new and rewarding perspective. There are plenty of opportunities to help out the weekend of the race, including:

  • Breakfast & Buses

Assist staff in answering questions; organize runners for team photo; ensure that runners board buses to the start line

  • Mile 17

Cheer and motivate Fred's Team runners; help pediatric patients secure front row seats in the stands

  • Mile 23

Cheer and motivate Fred's Team runners

  • Expo & Hospitality Suite

Assist staff in answering questions; help with Fred's Team merchandise sales and uniform exchanges

  • Finish Line

Assist staff by cheering and encouraging Fred's Team runners as they cross the finish line; guide runners to the Fred's Team post-race area

If you live in New York but can't help out the day of the marathon, you can volunteer to distribute water and Gatorade at a Fred's Team weekend training run in Central Park. Volunteers are needed from June until November, and our staff provides all necessary refreshments.

If you live in either Boston or Chicago, you can sign-up as a marathon-day volunteer in these cities.

To learn more about any of these volunteer opportunities, contact us by e-mail at fredsteam@mskcc.org or by phone at 800-876-7522.
