Training for and completing a marathon is a tremendous accomplishment -- but to do so is both physically and emotionally challenging. No matter which race you choose, Fred's Team members receive training tips, nutrition notes, fundraising ideas, and a mileage chart. Our team coach is Jeff Rochford, a designated United States Track & Field Certified Coach who is also an alumnus of Fred's Team. His advice is available to all of our runners, no matter which event you're participating in. Our coach, volunteers, and staff are eager to provide the support it takes to ensure your success.
Training for the ING New York City Marathon in the tri-state area? Whether this is your first marathon or your fifth, training with our team can boost morale and provide an important support system. Coach Jeff leads long runs every Saturday morning and hill/speedwork on Tuesday evenings in Central Park.
If you're training for the ING New York City Marathon from another location and would like to find a teammate in your area, please contact us. With participants from around the US, we have organized smaller running groups from Connecticut to Colorado and can help you find a training companion.
Running in the Chicago Marathon? Your Fred's Team participation includes membership to Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA). Visit www.cararuns.org to identify routes and groups in your area. If you're training from the New York area, you're welcome to join our weekly team run.
Runners training to compete in "off-calendar" races are also encouraged to consult with our coach regarding a training regime. We can design a specific plan to target your training needs and timeline. For more information, please contact us at 800-876-7522.
