U.S. Marshals seized more than $4,000 worth of dietary supplements named Forticel and Forticel Mix from Jean's Greens in Norway, New York after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration accused the company of making unapproved medical claims for these herbal products. Specifically, the company had claimed the products could treat and cure serious illnesses such as cancer despite providing no scientific evidence to support these claims. The company had failed to comply with numerous warnings from the FDA prior to the seizure.
