At Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, new graduates and entry-level professionals have the opportunity to begin building their careers in an environment of universally recognized excellence in cancer care. Challenging positions that are part of meaningful career paths are available at our main campus on Manhattan's Upper East Side and at other sites in New York City, as well as Westchester County, Long Island, and New Jersey.

Allied Health Professionals

Our Allied Health professionals collaborate with other members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team and contribute their unique training and specialized skills to ensure standard setting innovations in cancer care. Nurses

Pediatric Nurse

Today, the nurses at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center set the standards for excellence in cancer nursing care with collaborative practice models, nurse-run units, and case management methodologies across a wide range of practice areas.

Each nurse participates in the Clinical Ladder. Our ladder rewards and recognizes nurses who have developed expertise in nursing practice, and who function as models and teachers for their less experienced colleagues. The path for clinical nursing experience follows the continuum of: Clinical Nurse I; Clinical Nurse II; Clinical Nurse III; and Clinical Nurse IV.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering nurses can concentrate their practice in one or more of the following clinical areas:

Medical/Surgical Nursing

Ambulatory Care Nursing

Physician Office Assistants

As liaisons between patients and the medical health care team, Physician Office Assistants handle administrative functions associated with an Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's physician's practice. Responsibilities include screening patient calls, as well as scheduling patient tests and appointments.

Research Positions

Entry-level research staff provide support to the laboratories of Sloan-Kettering Institute, Memorial Sloan-Kettering's research arm, in carrying out assigned experiments and related responsibilities. Sloan-Kettering Institute's eight research programs include:

Research Study Assistants

An important function at Memorial Sloan-Kettering is the acquisition and analysis of data related to therapeutic and/or diagnostic protocols. Research Study Assistants, as members of a multidisciplinary research team made up of physicians, nurses, and clinical support staff, contribute to developing standards of excellence in cancer treatments by reviewing patient histories, collecting and computerizing information, and developing reports.

Session Assistants

Working with a variety of medical health care team members, Session Assistants coordinate activity among the patient, family, physicians, nurses and other team members during patient care visits. Responsibilities for this position, as the first step on a health care management track, include orienting patients and families to Ambulatory Care, assisting with patient flow between the waiting and clinical areas, and ensuring that medical records are available and complete prior to a visit.
