A Multicenter Trial Evaluating Computed Tomography and Serum CA-125 for the Management of Newly Diagnosed Ovarian Cancer
[Protocol 01-048]
- Full Title :
- A MULTICENTER TRIAL ON THE UTILITY AND IMPACT OF COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY AND SERUM CA-125 IN THE MANAGEMENT OF NEWLY DIAGNOSED OVARIAN CANCER
- Purpose :
The purpose of the research is to determine if blood tests for a protein called CA-125 and a computed tomography (CT) scan done before surgery for ovarian cancer can predict how successful the surgery will be. It is hoped that a preoperative CT scan may be able to pinpoint various places in the body where a cancer may have spread, so that additional surgeons can be available to help during the surgical procedure.
- Eligibility :
To be eligible for this study, patients must meet several criteria, including but not limited to the following:
- Patients must be scheduled to undergo surgery for suspected ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer and be able to undergo CT scanning.
- Patients must be age 18 or older.
For more information and to inquire about eligibility for this study, please contact Dr. Dennis Chi at 212-639-5018.
