Clinical Outcomes in Hereditary Cancer

[Protocol 06-004]

Full Title :
CLINICAL OUTCOMES IN HEREDITARY CANCER
Purpose :

A number of studies have suggested that tumors in patients with an inherited predisposition to cancer may behave differently than cancers in patients who don't have a genetic susceptibility. The purpose of this study is to compare clinical features and survival in pancreatic and breast cancer patients with and without mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.

Eligibility :

The patients in this study have already come to Memorial Sloan-Kettering for cancer care and have already been recruited. No additional recruitment is under way. The study participants include:

  • Pancreatic cancer patients of Ashkenazi descent, with or without mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.
  • Breast cancer patients of Ashkenazi descent, with or without mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2, who are receiving paclitaxel chemotherapy for metastatic disease.

For more information about this study, please contact Dr. Mark Robson at 646-888-5434.
