Clinical Outcomes in Hereditary Cancer
[Protocol 06-004]
- Full Title :
- CLINICAL OUTCOMES IN HEREDITARY CANCER
- Purpose :
A number of studies have suggested that tumors in patients with an inherited predisposition to cancer may behave differently than cancers in patients who don't have a genetic susceptibility. The purpose of this study is to compare clinical features and survival in pancreatic and breast cancer patients with and without mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.
- Eligibility :
The patients in this study have already come to Memorial Sloan-Kettering for cancer care and have already been recruited. No additional recruitment is under way. The study participants include:
- Pancreatic cancer patients of Ashkenazi descent, with or without mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.
- Breast cancer patients of Ashkenazi descent, with or without mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2, who are receiving paclitaxel chemotherapy for metastatic disease.
