A Phase II Trial of Dasatinib in Patients with Recurrent Glioblastoma Multiforme

[Protocol 07-042]

Full Title :
PHASE II TRIAL OF DASATINIB IN PATIENTS WITH RECURRENT GLIOBLASTOMA MULTIFORME (RTOG 0627)
Purpose :

Glioblastoma multiforme is an aggressive form of brain cancer that is difficult to treat. The purpose of this study is to evaluate a drug called dasatinib in patients with glioblastoma multiforme that has continued to grow despite treatment with radiation therapy and the anticancer drug temozolomide.

Dasatinib is currently approved for the treatment of certain types of leukemia. It works by targeting several molecular abnormalities that drive the growth of gliomas. The evaluation of dasatinib for glioblastoma is considered investigational.

Eligibility :

To be eligible for this study, patients must meet several criteria, including but not limited to the following:

  • Patients must have a confirmed diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme that has continued to grow despite treatment with radiation therapy and temozolomide.
  • At least 4 weeks must have passed since completion of radiation therapy and 2 weeks since prior temozolomide and entry into the study.
  • Patients must be age 18 or older.

For more information and to inquire about eligibility for this study, please contact Dr. Andrew Lassman at 212-639-6037.
