A Phase I/II Study of BMS-753493 in Patients with Advanced Cancer

[Protocol 08-032]

Full Title :
A PHASE 1/2, ASCENDING MULTIPLE-DOSE STUDY TO EVALUATE THE SAFETY, EFFICACY AND PHARMACOKINETICS OF BMS-753493 IN SUBJECTS WITH ADVANCED CANCER
Purpose :

BMS-753493 is an investigational drug shown to kill cancer cells in the laboratory by attacking the parts of the cancer cell that enable it to divide. When this happens, the cancer cells cannot divide and may die instead.

This drug has been shown to be useful in treating cancer in laboratory animals. The purpose of the phase I portion of this study is to find the highest dose of BMS-753493 that can be given safely in patients with advanced cancer that has continued to grow despite standard therapy or for which no standard therapy exists. In the phase II portion, researchers will see how active the drug is against certain cancers.

Eligibility :

To be eligible for this study, patients must meet several criteria, including but not limited to the following:

  • Patients must have an advanced cancer that has continued to grow despite standard therapy or for which no standard therapy exists.
  • Patients participating in the phase II part of the study must have advanced ovarian, primary peritoneal, fallopian tube, renal, or breast cancer.
  • At least 4 weeks must have passed since completion of prior therapies and entry into the study, and patients must have recovered from any side effects.
  • Patients must be physically well enough that they are fully ambulatory, capable of all self care, and are capable of all but physically strenuous activities. As an example, patients must be well enough that they would be able to carry out office work or light housework.
  • Patients must be age 18 or older.

For more information and to inquire about eligibility for this study, please contact Dr. Jason Konner at 212-639-8151.
