A Phase I Study of XL765 in Combination with Temozolomide in Patients with Malignant Gliomas

[Protocol 08-057]

Full Title :
A PHASE I DOSE-ESCALATION STUDY OF XL765 IN COMBINATION WITH TEMOZOLOMIDE IN SUBJECTS WITH MALIGNANT GLIOMAS
Purpose :

XL765 is a new drug developed to target tumor cells but not normal cells. XL765 works by targeting two proteins called PI3K and mTOR, which are essential for the growth of some tumors. XL765 may block these proteins and shrink a tumor or prevent it from growing.

In this study, researchers want to find the highest dose of XL765 which can be given safely in combination with temozolomide in patients with gliomas. Temozolomide is a drug already approved to treat gliomas.

Eligibility :

To be eligible for this study, patients must meet several criteria, including but not limited to the following:

  • Patients must have a confirmed diagnosis of glioma and have been taking temozolomide for at least 4 weeks without any sign of disease progression.
  • Patients should be expected to receive at least 3 more cycles of temozolomide in combination with XL765.
  • Patients must be age 18 or older.

For more information and to inquire about eligibility for this study, please contact Dr. Antonio Omuro at 212-639-7523.
