- A STUDY TO DETERMINE THE ACTIVITY OF SCH 717454 IN SUBJECTS WITH OSTEOSARCOMA OR EWINGS SARCOMA THAT HAS RELAPSED AFTER STANDARD SYSTEMIC THERAPY
- Purpose :
SCH 717454 is a monoclonal antibody that binds to a receptor on the outside of some tumor cells called the insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R). The binding of SCH 717454 to this receptor causes changes in tumor cell signaling, growth, and division, in addition to inducing tumor cell death. Since sarcomas depend on IGF signaling more than normal cells, anti-IGF antibodies have the potential to be active against these cancers.
The purpose of this study is to determine if SCH 717454 is safe and can affect tumor growth in patients with recurrent osteosarcoma or Ewing's sarcoma.
- Eligibility :
To be eligible for this study, patients must meet several criteria, including but not limited to the following:
- Patients must have a confirmed diagnosis of osteosarcoma or Ewing's sarcoma that has returned despite prior therapy.
- Patients must be age 11 or older.
- Patients must not be confined to a bed or chair for more than half of their normal waking hours.
- Patients must have recovered from the side effects of prior therapies.
