- ELECTRONIC PATIENT-REPORTED OUTCOMES FROM HOME IN PATIENTS RECOVERING FROM MAJOR GYNECOLOGIC CANCER SURGERY: MEASURING SYMPTOMS AND HEALTH-RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE
- Purpose :
This study is being done to see if most patients are willing and able to report how they are feeling after gynecologic cancer surgery using the Internet, and if this information can help doctors and nurses detect symptoms of concern after surgery.
This study uses a special Web site called STAR ("Symptom Tracking and Reporting for Patients"). Patients can log on to STAR and answer questions about how they are feeling. Doctors and nurses can then look at this information during clinic appointments.
Researchers are doing this study to determine if STAR is a helpful way to keep track of information about how patients are feeling and their quality of life. The information collected can be used to help find better ways of helping patients prepare for what they may go through while they recover from surgery.
- Eligibility :
Participants in this study include English-speaking women age 18 and older scheduled to undergo abdominal surgery for gynecologic cancer at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center who have their own computers, access to the Internet, and e-mail accounts.
