A 12-GENE BLOOD BASED SIGNATURE FOR DETECTING METASTATIC BLADDER CANCER
Purpose :

Some patients who have their bladder removed as treatment for bladder cancer experience a recurrence of their disease. Tumor cells from the bladder may travel and metastasize to other parts of the body. Some patients are more likely than others to experience such metastasis.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate a new genetic test to potentially predict which patients with bladder cancer that has invaded the muscle are most likely to experience cancer metastasis. The test looks for specific genes that may signal an increased risk of bladder cancer metastasis.

Patients will have blood drawn before surgery and will be followed for two years after surgery.

Eligibility :

To be eligible for this study, patients must meet several criteria, including but not limited to the following:

  • Patients must have muscle-invasive bladder cancer and be candidates for surgical removal of the bladder and nearby lymph nodes.
  • Patients may not have had prior chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
  • Patients must be age 18 or older.
